Located in South Park, PA - Sleepy Hollow Academy is a small, residential unit for female juvenile offenders between the ages of 13-18 years. Sleepy Hollow is licensed by the Department of Education as a private, secondary school for grades 7-12 and those students who acquire the necessary credits have the opportunity to receive a diploma and participate in the graduation ceremonies in June at The Summit Academy.
Academically, a full schedule of year-round, courses are offered, including a choice of several electives. The young women also have an opportunity to participate in varsity basketball or enjoy intramural sports, including: softball, volleyball, and kickball. Art, Cosmetology, Food Service, and Lawn Care are trades areas available for study. Students pay respect to their education by wearing uniforms of a blouse and skirt to class and, for evening program, change into a shirt and khakis.
The Sleepy Hollow Academy participates in the Tickets for Kids Foundation, a non-profit organization which “funds tickets and admissions fees to many cultural, sports, and recreational events.” Through this program, our students have been provided the unique opportunity to take frequent field trips to such places as the Benedum Theater, Idlewild Park, and the Civic Arena.
