Where Young Women Find Strength, Discover Stability and Achieve Success

We Expect Great Things from Our Young Women

They’re young women with little sense of their own potential. They don’t expect much from themselves because no one else ever has.

Then they come here. Located on the border of Baldwin Borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, New Outlook Academy, formerly Sleepy Hollow Academy, was established in 1997 to provide comprehensive, positive rehabilitative treatment for female offenders. It’s a private, residential school for court-adjudicated females ages 14-19 in grades 7-12. Our program is multi-faceted, interweaving academics, trades training, counseling and extra-curricular activities. It provides the transforming environment and unwavering support young juvenile offenders need to redirect their lives.

From the moment they begin their day—dressed in a preparatory school uniform which includes slacks or skirt with blouse and sweater—our residents are treated like young ladies. Far from the temptations and trouble from which they came, they flourish. Close to people who care, they shine.
